
Caroline Kaspar
Caroline has spent a lifetime performing! Since completing her initial dance and performance training in Adelaide, South Australia she has maintained a active creative and performing career in dance, theatre, film and television.
Caroline made her professional musical theatre debut in 1985 when cast in the original Australian production of La Cage Aux Folles, directed by the legendary Arthur Laurents in which she performed as swing and understudied and performed the role of "Anne". Other Musicals followed including: Me and My Girl- Original Australian Cast directed by Mike Ockrent; My Fair Ladyfor the Victorian State Opera – Dance Captain; Hot Shoe Shufflewhere she was Dance Captain, backing vocalist and understudied and performed the lead role of "April"; Sweet Charity- in which she played the roles of "Ursula", "Suzanne" and Dance Captain and Mum’s up the Tree for the inaugural Sydney Short Play Festival. Caroline received a Mo Award nomination for the role of "Anytime Annie" which she created in the Original
Australian Cast of 42nd Street... a role she subsequently went on to recreate for the English National Tour. Caroline played the role of "Annie" and was also Dance Captain in the Original Australian production of Chicago - The Musical where she had the honour of working alongside Broadway legends Anne Reinking and Walter Bobbie. More recently you may have seen her sharing the boards with Wayne Scott Kermond in his show Candy Manin which she was an original cast member and co-choreographer. Billy Elliot - The Musicalis a project that Caroline was proud to have been a part of, performing a mulitude of characters, including a Dead Mum - in her role as Understudy/Swing and also looking after the little ones in her role of Ballet Girl Dance Captain.
In feature film you may have catched a glimpse of her in Baz Luhrmann's blockbuster motion picture Moulin Rouge, and also from George Miller’s fabulous animated feature Happy Feet, where she danced and acted alongside incredible performers, creating through motion capture, a multitude of character roles.
As a choreographer, Caroline’s work has been seen around the world from television commercials here in Australia to the musical revue Sixty Sixtyfor the Schmidt’s Tivoli Theatre in Hamburg, Germany which ran for over 2 years. She has assisted leading Australian choreographers, most notabley William Forsythe on the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Closing Ceremony and was assistant director to David Atkins for the national tour of Hot Shoe Shuffle. Caroline recently choreographed sequences for the stage play QED for the Ensemble Theatre.
Caroline has most recently performed the role of Hunyak in the Australian revival of Chicago – The Musical where she also dance captain. Caroline has just completed the sequel to Happy Feet, Happy Feet 2 where she was dance assistant to Dein Perry and also a principal motion capture artist.
As well as a maintaining a busy professional performing schedule, Caroline is regularly involved in performing arts education for a variety of Sydney performing arts institutions and adjudication for arts festivals and eisteddfods.
